Learn how to make your own 'fibre poems' and develop the basic skills of tapestry weaving on a frame loom. In this 4 hour class, you'll learn the essential stitches to get well on your way to developing your unique style. We'll go over the tricks and tools of the trade, learn about incorporating unconventional materials into weaving, and how to use texture, technique and concept to create an original piece of woven wall art.
Each student gets to take home a sustainable loom kit with birch tools (needle, 2 shuttles, pick up stick and comb) from Black Sheep Goods, enough yarn to finish their project, a tapestry weaver's reference zine, along with your very own in-progress tapestry!
NOTE: This is a special extended version of the original workshop, so there will be more time to weave, get personal feedback, and steal all of my tapestry secrets...
Supplies: All materials will be provided, however you are encouraged to bring your own yarn or an old fork to use as a tapestry beater.
Sustenance: Light refreshments will be provided.
