handmade box, silk ribbon, handmade Japanese paper, waxed thread, blue ink
Projection documents the cancer gene in the artist's family. Each leaf of paper is marked with an intricate map of veins that increases in density, as the panels progress marking the ages of diagnosis. The veins are raised ridges, that have an undercoating of blue ink. Each panel is tied to the one preceeding it with a fragile structure of waxed thread. The handmade box comes with extra sheets of paper, with the hopes that the average age in the artist's family at which someone is diagnosed with cancer, will ultimately be extended, or perhaps escape entirely.
