With Bared Teeth
15 '' x 28 ''
Inspired by a charcoal drawing of a snapping animal jaw set hauntingly against a pale grey back drop, this hand woven wall hanging was made with pure Icelandic lopi wool, hand dyed merino wool in el greco, mull (a thin open-weave linen), and a strand of cotton ripple thread that frames the weaving. The bound 'teeth' at the heart of the hand woven circle were meticulously wrapped with a sewing needle. Linen threads, hand dyed in chamomile, make up the fringe. It is hanging on an oak dowel with hand painted black ends, suspended by a piece of deerskin leather.
