Longing to Remake from Ruin

muslin cotton scraps, wax, waxed cotton thread

This installation interrogates the complicated process of healing from trauma. To even begin to disentangle oneself from the past, the individual must acknowledge what has been lost, face their grief, confront the memory, and commit to moving forward in order to rebuild their self-worth. The undulating hand-braided waxed compressed scraps of muslin rope emulate the feeling of tension, imploring the viewer to navigate physically and emotionally around them.
